Laboring in Mission to Neighbors in Need
Temperatures in the summer are projected to range from 70F to 95F, and in the winter normally range from 50F to 75F. Then, there's the humidity, so plan your clothing accordingly.
Have a look at the Weather Forecast for Orange, Texas and the surrounding area.
Documents. Very important -- don't leave home without them -- in fact, please bring the ORIGINAL NOTARIZED Emergency Medical and Release forms.
Gear and Tools.
Gear Optional (and as weather appropriate) Tools are OPTIONAL (we provide) | Personal Gear ð Pack everything in a duffle (not a suitcase). ð Mark your tools well (with paint)!! ð Pack LITE, it's RIGHT! This is a quick, fun trip and style is not a requirement! You WILL get a little warm (and, yes, sweaty), in the summer, and a little cool in the winter.

Rules.
1. Bring lots of breathable clothing - 80F or better is the average temperature and the humidity is high
2. Old stuff is better than new stuff, unless you want to redefine "breaking it in"
3. Keep your travel stuff separate from your L4N work stuff.
To Sleep In:
ü Sleeping bag or sheet and quilt or blanket
ü A comfy pillow - small, so it is easy to pack
ü A cot
To Work In:
ü Long pants - jeans are best - remember, it is a construction site.
ü Long sleeve (or short sleeve – depending on temperature) shirts over T shirts, cotton is best - a couple is fine
ü Heavy shoes, ones that can handle a hammer or saw dropped on them, not that it would ever happen.
ü Change of socks and underwear for the weekend
ü Sun glasses, if your eyes are sensitive. They also help keep the wind and sand out of your eyes.
ü Work gloves - leather is best
ü Sun block, if you are the strong but sensitive type.
ü Hat – wild brimmed are best, but baseball caps are fine
Off-Worksite Wear:
ü Layers, dry layers. You will want to change shirts when you get back to the site.
ü Extra pair of shoes - tennis shoes are great. Comfortable is the operative word.
Personal Gear:
ü Toothbrush and toothpaste, and toiletries
ü Wash cloth, towel, travel soap and shampoo
ü A cap. There may be a bad hair day!
ü Bible, paper and pen
ü Optional -
ü small flashlight
ü water bottle
ü whatever you need for allergies, sinus headache, or congestion
